How do people become millionaires? The old answer is one penny at a time. This wasn’t the answer you were looking for was it? The fact is that pennies do make millions if you can hang onto to them. It’s the hanging onto them that is the problem.

Being a Christian is something like being a millionaire. Really? Notice the scripture says to grow in grace AND IN THE KNOWLEDGE of our Lord. There is more to being a Christian than meets the eye. We are saved by grace and we are to exercise GRACE in how we live. And, we are to grow in knowledge of Jesus. Just a millionaire gets there one penny at a time the Christian grows by living grace one day at a time and learning all he/she can about Jesus.

You know the basic facts about Jesus such as His birth and death. But, what do you know of His teachings? God says we are to have the mind of Christ – think like Jesus. Thinking like Jesus leads to living like Him.

Okay now put your finger on that. Thinking like Jesus leads to living like Jesus. The only way you can ever think like Jesus is to study His teachings and practice His teaching. Into the mix you need a lot of prayer time. Today is a good day to read a chapter containing Jesus’ teaching. Pick a verse or two and see how you can apply the teaching to your life.
