Look To God

Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. Psalm 121:1-8

There is no better encouragement in life than God’s voice. As you read your daily devotion listen for God’s voice and you will hear Him.

I’ve known people who seemed to live under a rain cloud. Nothing good ever happened to them. "Gloom, despair and misery on me" was their song. For whatever reason they never saw the good side of an event or a conversation. No amount of effort to cheer them ever seems to turn the rain to rainbows.

Perhaps you feel trouble surrounds you and life is just one long misery. For just a moment allow the Lord to speak to you through these verses. "Lift up your eyes to the hills." Stop looking down and look beyond the hills and mountains of trouble you see, look above the horizon to Heaven and acknowledge that God is present. He is the one that made Heaven and Earth and each of us. He is strong enough to bear your burdens and to straighten out your life. "He never slumbers nor sleeps." In other words, His eyes are always on you.

Can you imagine how stooped and bent you would be if you spent the rest of your days searching for dropped pennies? Many people have stooped and bent souls because they are always looking down. God calls us to look up, look past the hills, past the horizons to see Him. Some days are longer than others in this life but take comfort in the fact that God is watching you to BLESS you.
