To See Jesus

There was a small boy at the Christmas parade. He was there alone. The boy wandered among the crowd trying to find an opening to see Santa Claus. He was average in size for his eight years. He never told anyone he wanted to see Santa because he knew they would laugh at him. Eight is kind of old to want to see Santa.

The boy was at the parade alone because his dad died right after he was born. His mother was always at work. Christmas was more or less just another day but he longed for the kind of Christmas in the stories. He felt if he could see Santa in the parade it might feel a little more like Christmas. There were too many people. He ran and ran until he came to a corner then darted between two little kids. He saw Santa.

There was a short man in the Bible named Zacchaeus. One day he heard Jesus was coming down a certain street. The crowd packed the side of the street and he could not see over or between the people. He climbed a tree and saw Jesus.

There are some things in life so important to us that we will do whatever it takes – climb a tree, push through or even look foolish. Seeing Jesus matters. To see Him everyday is a goal in life we each should set. Why? Because to see Him everyday makes the day worth living. We can lie in our beds at night with a sense of accomplishment, peace and being loved.

3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.

God’s Wisdom: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Cor. 2:9
