![]() Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8.31-32 Ever feel like you are not as strong in "faith" as you should be? Our baptism, our confession and our church attendance seem not to be enough. There is a sense of emptiness inside that you just can’t explain. Years ago while serving in the South Carolina National Guard I met a guy they called, "Preacher". Preacher had served as pastor to a small church for a few months before being fired. When I asked him where he attended church he said, "Church is for stupid people. There ain’t no God." The man went from the pinnacle of belief to the cellar of human emptiness. How did it happen? Could it be that he was never ever really truly "saved"? (notice all the adjectives – there are those who believe salvation has to be qualified) Every Christian at some point will question their faith. And, almost every person questions if God exists. There are many, many Christians who confess that when they said, "I believe" for the first time did not have fireworks or become overjoyed – they didn’t feel any change. There was no instant happiness or sense of wellbeing. Perhaps you are one of those who feel that you signed on the bottom line and nothing changed. Jesus talked about a seed in the ground. It sprouts, it grows, it produces fruit. The seed doesn’t stay the same if it is watered, receives sunlight and is tended. Your faith is that seed – it needs Bible study, fellowship and worship. The "Truth" will set you free when you are willing to grow. Notice Jesus said to the disciple, "If you continue in MY word". God’s Wisdom: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17 Man’s Wisdom: "Where the determination is, the way can be found."
