| "I Heard That!" - God | ||

14Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (King James Version) Do you have a word that gives you difficulty? No, not those four-letter words your mother washed your mouth out with soap for saying. But words that for some reason are difficult for you to pronounce. Seems everyone has at least one word they avoid. One situation is common to most pastors. A conversation begins, no one is introduced, and the no-no words flow freely. And the pastor eventually identifies his profession, then the "oh, I’m sorry preacher, pastor or reverend" begins. It is hard not to grin when the offenders apologize for cussing in front of the preacher. Preachers wonder if the speaker ever considers such speech is offensive to God who is always listening. How about this for a paraphrase - "Let my words be acceptable to God because He is always listening." The other part of the verse makes me glad science has come up with a thought-reading devise. If wives ever got hold of one of those there would be a lot of widows in prison and a lot of divorced men in cemeteries. God not only hears our speech but is quite aware of our thoughts. He doesn’t blush. Today would be a good day to consider your speech and your thoughts. As one of God’s children, you should strive to be pleasing to Him. God’s Wisdom: "He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds," (Titus 2:14).
