Wise Enough To Listen

For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength. 1 Corinthians 1:25

Remember the joke – A guy’s car has a flat in front of the insane asylum and while he is putting the spare on he accidentally knocks the lug nuts down a storm drain. He becomes frantic trying to reach the lug nuts. An inmate standing nearby says, "Why not just take one lug nut off of the other three wheels." The guy has a "v-8 moment" and slaps his forehead. "That’s really great thinking!" The inmate replies, "I might be crazy but I ain’t stupid."

We do not see the value in fire ants or mosquitoes but God does. And, we may not understand why some of the things that happen in our lives happen but God does. The things we call "stupid" may just be beyond our understanding. If we allow God to teach rather than criticize Him we might come to see His great wisdom. After all, He was able to create all that exists without our input.

It is the province of knowledge to speak, and it is the privilege of wisdom to listen. Oliver Wendell Holmes
