Cling To What Is Good

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9

Did you hear about the man who fell off a cliff one night and managed to grab a vine? It was a black, black night and he could see nothing and could only hear the howling wind. Throughout the night his only thought was to cling to the vine and not let go no matter what because he would surely die. As morning approached and the sky began to brighten he peered down but there was mist and he couldn’t see the ground. He was growing weak and his grip was slipping. When he couldn’t hold on any longer he cried out, "Lord forgive me and receive! He fell all of three feet to the soft sand.

Cling to what is good. Just as the man was clinging to the vine for his life so too should we fight temptation and cling what is good. It is so easy to give in to temptations and hard to hold to morality and the things of good conscience.

God has promised to give us strength and the ability to hold on if we will trust Him. Hold on! Cling!
