| Deep Roots For Strong Storms | ||
![]() But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Jer. 9:24 Men climb mountains just because the mountains are there. The world will long remember Sir Edmund Hillary as the first man to reach the top of Mount Everest. Few know that a few days before another Englishman named George Mallory was only a few feet from the top but no one knows if he climbed those few feet because he perished on the mountain. The fame and glory belongs to whoever does it first. The Book of Guinness World contains a lot of first, most not worth remembering. Why do people do the things they do – because they want the glory. Everyone aspires to do something worthwhile in life. There is nothing wrong with this and in fact God gives us talents and gifts that we can do great things. Trees come in all shapes and sizes. They also have various root systems. Those trees that survive the extremes of climate and weather have the deepest and largest root system. It takes deep roots to continue to stand. For those who seek glory and fame in this world their roots are often shallow. The verse above reminds us to glory in the things of God for if we do He will know us. Is it not better to be known of God for what we are and do than to be known of man for who we are and what we do? Let us sink our roots deep into the things God values. To Him be glory now and forever – Amen.
