How Does Faith Grow?

According to your faith be it unto you. Matt. 9:29

Do you have a favorite verse or passage? There are 31,103 verses in the Old and New Testaments. So, out of all of those what one verse stands out in your mind? Which have you taken to heart? Maybe the one above?

According to YOUR faith. That is such a power-packed little verse. Remember Jesus said at one point, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains." So far, man hasn’t come up with a way to measure faith. A pound of this, an ounce of that, a gallon of this etc… We tend to measure in terms of "will this plank suspended between two buildings hold my weight"? Or perhaps, "If I spend my money for pizza that I need to pay the rent will God provide in some other way?" But more realistically and spiritually, "When I die do I have enough faith to make it to Heaven?"

Jesus says, "According your faith." Makes us all feel like Paul who said in the letter to Corinth, "I fear even I may be disqualified". But, this was not the only time Jesus used words similar to these. On other occasions He voiced the same thought, "according to your faith." Maybe it would be a good Bible study for you to look through the Gospels for who and why He said these words.

We do know that faith is something that grows. He waters, He sends the sun and He provides the nutrients. We ask, "Why?" when things aren’t as we want or things happen we don’t understand. Let us be content that He waters, He sends the sun and the fertilizer.

You have faith otherwise you would not be reading daily devotions. The question is "How much?" You will continue to grow in faith, do not fear --- He is with you. Amen!
