27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:27-29 (KJV) In the news today is a report that the Milky Way (our galaxy) is going to collide with the Andromeda galaxy. Can you imagine that? Two huge star systems are going to collide. What about the Earth? Will it survive? Is there anything we can do? Man is puny compared to a galaxy and no match for the forces that can one turning. According to God’s word He spoke the universe into being. That sounds like He is the only force powerful enough to keep the galaxies from colliding. But will He prevent the event? There are a lot of things we could and should worry about. The colliding of our galaxy with another isn’t one of them. The event is predicted to be in the far off future – roughly 8 billion years. By which time Jesus will have come and we will have gone. – Amen! But for those near-term disasters they could be only a breath away we need to hear Jesus’ words. "My sheep (YOU) he knows intimately because YOU follow Him. He has given you eternal life, which is even longer than 8 billion years. You will never perish and you will never be removed from God’s presence. Doesn’t that make you feel better? There are those who say worry about this or worry about that but when you are God’s precious child there is nothing to worry about.
