Shine

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 5:16 (KJV)

It’s football season!! Either you are excited with that statement or groaned. It depends on if you are a fan. One of the interesting things about team sports is that when the microphone is in front of a player the player talks about "team" and congratulates different players for their hard work and contributions. Every coach likes to point out, "There is no ‘I’ in the word team.

In the bookstore there is a display of caps, one of them has a logo similar to the US Army. It reads, "God’s Army". There are a few people that need to wear one of those caps. It is easy for some to forget that our boss is a Jewish carpenter.

When you do good works, Jesus says, you bring glory to the Father.

Everyone likes to be appreciated and it is nice when someone tells you that you are doing a good job. When we work for God we want Him to be glorified. Every small or large task we do for Him. The accomplishments and successes come by His power, love and wisdom. Jesus taught us that we could do nothing without Him. He is the ONE deserving of praise and glory.

One of the nicest and most humbling things one person can say to another is, "I thank God for you!" When they say that, God is praised. He receives the glory – and we feel good about serving and closer to Him.

Let your light shine. Do good works. Glorify God.
